Black Russian Terriers do fine with other animals, are easy to housebreak, and are easy to train. Black Russian Terriers can live in an apartment if they get plenty of exercise.

Black Russian Terriers were developed by the Soviet Army beginning in the forties. The Black Russian Terrier was conceived as a less aggressive version of a German Shepherd. Black Russian Terriers were bred exclusively by the USSR state owned kennel, The Red Star Kennel, until 1957.
